Steamships Limited is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven individual with extensive experience in financial reporting, internal control, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, capex and projects.

The successful candidate will report to the Financial Controller. 

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Accountant located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. As a Senior Accountant, you must have over 6 years of experience in a supervisory capacity within the finance and commercial function. You will provide support and direct assistance to the Financial Controller and CFOin the dispensation of duties. The role focuses on the provision of financial information support to General Managers and Operations management.

Required Experience

Significant experience (Minimum over 6 years in supervisory capacity) in the field of financial reporting, internal control, financial analysis, budgeting and or the projects including amongst other things:

• Over the accounting functions of Pacific Palms Property.
• Oversee the lease accounting process including the recognition of lease revenue and expense  ensuring compliance with lease terms and conditions, IAS 17 and IFRS 16.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
• Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts
• Oversee the general ledger and maintain accuracy and up-to-date records.
• Ensure revenue and expenses are recorded correctly and Balance Sheet reconciliations are done monthly.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits
• Stay current on tax regulations and implement strategies for tax efficiency
• Implement work plans and strategies to meet key deadlines weekly, monthly and annually.

Qualifications and Key Ccompetencies

• Accounting qualifications (Bachelor’s degree/Diploma)
• CPA PNG membership is a necessary requirement.
• Solid ERP financial systems and reporting knowledge and understanding.
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills; and
• Proven leadership and coaching ability
• Pronto Experience will be a bonus
