Steamships Limited is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven individual for the role of Quality Assurance or Quality Control specialist. The successful candidate will report to the Development, Valuations and Project Manager. 

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a QA/QC Specialist located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. As a QA/QC Specialist, you will specialize in furniture specifications and manufacturing, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all furniture elements of our Hotel Rejuvenation Project meet our exacting standards for quality, durability, and design aesthetics. He/She will work closely with the project team and furniture suppliers to oversee the manufacturing process, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with projects specifications.

Required Experience

• Significant experience (Minimum of 3-5 years) in quality assurance or quality control within the furniture manufacturing or hospitality industry and  including amongst other things:
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and procurement teams to review furniture specifications, design concepts, and project requirements.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and qualifications to ensure alignment with project quality standards and delivery timelines.
• Conduct thorough reviews of furniture drawings, renderings, and material samples to ensure accuracy and adherence to design intent.
• Develop and implement quality control plans and inspection protocols tailored to the unique requirements of the Hotel Rejuvenation Project.
• Perform regular on-site inspections of furniture manufacturing facilities to assess production processes, quality control measures, and compliance with project specifications.

Qualifications and Key Ccompetencies

• Qualification in Interior Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong understanding of furniture design principles, materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design documents.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate with suppliers, manufacturers, and project stakeholders.
• Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and relevant industry standards (e.g., ANSI/BIFMA, ASTM) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software applications.
