Steamships Limited is in search of a capable, results-driven, and proven individual to oversee the running of our Port Moresby branch at EastWest Transport. The successful candidate will oversee a team of more than 150 staff and have HSSEQ, operational and commercial accountability. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager. 

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Branch Manager located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. As the Branch Manager, your responsibilities are:

1. To manage all aspects of EastWest’s Port Moresby branch;
2. To fulfill EastWest’s strategic objectives including budgeted revenue, budgeted contribution, HSSEQ targets, customer targets and human development targets; and
3. To lead by example and contribute to the heightening standard of compliance with company policies, processes and HSSEQ.

Required Experience

Significant and meaningful experience (minimum 5 years in senior management role) in the field of logistics and or the transport industry including amongst other things:

• Experience in rolling assets – trucks, trailers, tankers, heavy equipment;
• Experience in managing operational personnel – drivers, operators, warehouse staff, yard staff, workshop staff, wharf staff;
• Experience in managing administration and finance;
• Experience in managing HSSEQ – enforce and add to safer workplace standards and practices across the branch, broader EastWest Transport network, our customer sites, and the public.

Qualifications and Key Ccompetencies

• Minimum Certificate IV in a logistics related field. A bachelor’s degree in a logistics and or business-related field will be advantageous;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and across all levels of the organisation;
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills; and
• Team and organisational leadership training will be considered favourably.
