Highlander Hotel’s Inaugural Charity Ball a Resounding Success

Mt Hagen, Papua New Guinea - The Highlander Hotel successfully hosted its first-ever Christmas Charity Ball on Saturday, 7th December 2024, raising a significant K55,000 for the Mt Hagen General Hospital.
The event was a celebration of community spirit, unity, and the extraordinary impact that can be achieved when the local business community comes together for a worthy cause.
Funds raised were formally presented to the Mt Hagen General Hospital on 23rd December 2024, along with a generous donation of over 600 used linens, bath towels, and cutlery from the hotel. All donations are intended to directly support the hospital’s critical services and infrastructure, providing much-needed assistance to countless families in the Highlands.
During the cheque presentation, Acting Mt Hagen Hospital CEO, Sister Janet Yamu, shared that the Hospital is the busiest public hospital in the country servicing the upper highlands with over a 100% bed occupancy rate and a steady increase in both births and outpatient visits.
“Thank you for bringing all the business houses together. Thank you for recognizing the hospital’s need and raising funds to help us achieve our goals,” said Sr Janet.
