Consort Cadets out on YWAM’s Pacific Link
28 September 2016
Consort Express association with YWAM dates as far back as 2014. Consort’s cadet development includes sending its cadets on its vessels to gain sea time. Apart from sending its cadets to Maritime College and its vessels Consort takes on the opportunity by sending its cadets on board YWAM. In early September of 2016 Consort sent two cadets to serve on YWAM's Pacific Link to gain sea time and also to experience working on a vessel that promotes team work, harmony, humility and development. George and Yatab are currently on board YWAM and will be serving on the ships out posting along Huon Gulf and Southern Region. Jason Fernandez, on behalf of Consort said that the experience for the young cadets serving on YWAM is positive. “The cadets return with added skills and a level of confidence. Consort has had a close relationship with YWAM since we started this program and it produces really good results. We thank YWAM especially Ann Ford of YWAM for their support on this matter as all previous cadets who have had the privilege of being engaged for training on board either of the YWAM vessels. They have used their experience gained to better their performance when they returned to our working ships not only in the sense of knowledge but also in line with social behaviour, presentation and approach towards the company”. The cadets will return by the end of February 2017.
