Chris Daniells
Managing Director - Steamships
Appointed Steamships Limited Managing Director in 1st July 2024, Mr. Daniells was previously the Managing Director of Swire Projects and has over 25 years experience in the shipping industry. His extensive career began in 1997 when he joined John Swire & Sons Ltd. His experience spans various sales, trade management, and senior executive roles across Australia, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Europe, and Singapore.
This is not his first time in PNG and with Steamships, as early in his career, he was engaged as the National Marketing Manager, PNG. Following his short stint in Port Moresby, he gained valuable experience with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong and Italy as Head of Planning and Country Manager before returning to Singapore as General Manager at China Navigation Company, overseeing the operational and strategic leadership of the business implementing a USD450m new building programme and the successful delivery of twelve new multi-purpose vessels into the Swire Shipping network. In 2016, he became CNCo’s Commercial Director, where he developed a new commercial strategy and grew the newly established Swire Bulk division into one of the top three market leaders in this sector, establishing the business from a start-up to USD1.5bn turnaround. In 2020, he was appointed Chief Commercial officer establishing Swire Projects, and created a new independent Trans-Pacific trade service.
